ok, so there has been several weeks to play around with the new version of google (in case you havent herd about this refer to our post about google caffine)
But for those of you who are aware about this new version of google and want to know a little bit more about how it is going to effect your website, and more importantly the $$$ you make from your website there are several nice tools that have popped up for you to compare the new and old Google (or as it is commonly being referred to the caffeinated, and un-caffeinated Google)
A great tool that will help you measure your sites performance in both caffeinated, and un-caffeinated Google and you can get to it by [clicking here]
Now for more detailed information about what changes will be involved with this Google update, and why exactly has your sites rankings changed? Here at Altec we have noticed the update includes the following:
1.) Increased weight on domain name authority [how old your domain is] the older the better! This seems to be very pronounced in Google Caffine, the older domain names are showing up much better in results.
2.) Increased level of keyword density, it was previously proven that site’s with roughly a 4-6% keyword density performed better in Google search results. In Google caffeine, keyword density’s are more in the 10-12% range which would have been considered a little spammy before
3.) Increased ability for Google to recognize clone sites, and sites that are owned by the same person. Last year Google applied for the ability to become a domain name registrar. And since as you know Google does not sell domain name [well not yet at least... that is kind of a scary thought to how bad they might dominate that market if they decided to] there is only one other conclusion to draw, and that is that Google is using this extra layer of information afforded all domain registrars to check on the ownership of domain names, and run real time query’s on transfers, where the domains are hosted, what data centers ect… this will make it much harder for the black hat seo’s to make a bunch of different websites in order to boost their own site.
4.) An increased focus on news and real time search. This is probably due in large part to the launch of Facebook’s news search, and Microsoft news search. It appears that new’s related websites get a much greater authority status in Google caffeine.
Well that is all for our update on Google caffeine, there are obviously many more features and differences [including many we don't even know about] but that is the jist of the changes, and if you have any questions feel free to drop us a note in the comments section just below this post.
